Orthopedic Trauma

Orthopedic Trauma from Injury

Orthopedic trauma is a specialized area of orthopedic care focused on injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissues—such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments—resulting from traumatic events. These injuries may include fractures of the hip, pelvis, or long bones, joint injuries, or torn ligaments that require timely and precise treatment.

Our fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons use advanced techniques, including minimally invasive surgery and external fixation, to stabilize injuries and promote healing. The goal of this specialized care is to restore proper alignment, support healing, and help patients return to their highest level of function.

Trauma Specialists

While many fractures can be treated without specialized intervention, more complex injuries often benefit from the expertise of a trauma specialist. Our surgeons are experienced in managing high-energy injuries and complicated fractures, using advanced surgical techniques to support stability, healing, and long-term outcomes.

Reconstructive Surgery After Trauma

In some cases, traumatic injuries can cause significant damage to joints or surrounding structures that require reconstructive surgery. When more conservative treatments are not effective, procedures to restore or replace damaged joint surfaces may provide the best opportunity for long-term improvement in function and pain relief.

Advances in surgical techniques and technology allow our surgeons to perform complex reconstructions with greater precision and improved outcomes. These procedures may include joint reconstruction or replacement of the knee, hip, shoulder, ankle, elbow, or even smaller joints of the hand.

Effective reconstruction requires both surgical expertise and coordinated care throughout recovery. Rehabilitation begins soon after surgery, often starting in the hospital with guided movement and progressing through physical therapy and home exercise programs focused on restoring motion and strength.

Recovery

The length of recovery from a fracture or traumatic injury depends on the type and severity of the condition. Our physicians develop a progressive, individualized plan focused on helping you safely regain strength, mobility, and function over time.

Throughout your recovery, you’ll have access to our on-site physical and occupational therapists, including certified hand therapists, who work closely with your surgeon to guide each step of the process. Together, they tailor your care to your specific needs and goals—supporting your return to daily activities and long-term function.
