Dr. John Urse, DO, FAOAO
Specializes in Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Urse is the senior and founding physician of Orthopedic Associates, with 36 years of practice in Dayton. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Association and trained in joint preservation surgeries of the hip, knee and shoulder. These include arthroscopic procedures and computer-assisted partial and total joint replacement surgeries. Dr. Urse has a special interest in hip arthroscopy, particularly in reshaping the ball and socket of the hip joint to prevent early arthritis and need for joint replacements. He also uses hip arthroscopy to repair torn gluteus medius tendons – the so-called “rotator cuff tear of the hip” and holds a patent on these repairs done through three small holes as an outpatient procedure.
Dr. Urse has specialized training in orthobiologics and experience in orthobiologic treatments such as platelet rich plasma (PRP) and regenerative cell injections to delay joint replacement surgeries, using the patient’s own cells for healing and anti-inflammatory effects.
