When I first went to Dr Saunders I was referred to him from another Dr. Who also sees Dr Saunders. He examined me and said I’m sure you have hip issues but more is going on. He order test, X-rays & MRI of hips and back. Dr Saunders then referred me to the neurologist in group who referred me to the Pain Med clinic there. Back is feeling good. Now hopefully 1st hip will be good after surgery. Will have 2nd hip and knee to go after that. Dr. Saunders was my surgeon for a total knee replacement. I have never had a doctor who was so concerned about making me well. He was attentive, concerned, very compassionate. He does not rush you. He listens to every word. His staff is the same. I had to have a second procedure for the new knee.. my fault not his I did not bend as I should but now I am doing well after a year. Not 100% but again my fault. A year later I had a fall and hurt the other knee. Dr Saunders did every test to insure I did not have a fracture. H has the best personality of any of my doctors. This is not the first time I have had surgery performed by Dr. Saunders. Approximately twenty years ago I had a very similar injury that he diagnosed and treated. The first thing I noticed back then was his professionalism and passion for his work. He was extremely detailed with the information regarding the injury and treatment options. Most importantly, I never felt like I was being talked down to, unlike the first DO I was seen by. Over the course of the last few weeks, I can say that nothing has changed with his professionalism and demeanor. While I can say that I would have much rather have been reintroduced by meeting him on the street, I was very happy to find that he is still very active in the practice, and I am extremely comfortable and confident with his work. As a retired R.N. my succinct statement would be he has excellent bedside manners. What does this mean? He asks questions and listens to the patient’s response. He educates the client on topics such as: what does the surgery entail; what is the estimated time to return to normal such as how long will it take for normal range of motion return after arthroscopic repair of a torn rotator cuff; and what pre-operative tests will be required. A wonderful doctor! I first met Dr. Saunders approximately 1998 when my first husband who was a severe diabetic with alot of problems. Dr. Saunders ended up having to cut off my husband's leg due to gang green. He died 6 weeks later. I cannot make enough positve comments about this physican. He is respectful, thorough, and cares about your surgical experience ( if you have surgery) including how you were treated in the hospital. He explains things completely and answers all your questions honestly. He doesn't have the typical "surgeon ego" and poor listening skills. Plus he's a top notch surgeon. It's no wonder so many hospital staff and other people I came in contact with said they would want him as a surgeon for themselves and their loved ones! You will not regret seeing him!
