Hand Therapy Event

This past weekend Orthopedic Associates sponsored an event dedicated to Hand Therapists with Alison Taylor, ORT/L,CHT, CKTI titled Treating Without Pain.

Alison obtained her CHT in 1996 and became a Kinesio Instructor in 2011. In 1994, she completed a NDT certification up to advanced upper extremity, and currently works at Baylor Scott and White Institute of Rehab at the STAR in Frisco, Texas, a combined venture with the Dallas Cowboys organization.

"My purpose is to help educate as many hand therapists, OTs and PTs in concepts related to my techniques and concepts using to Kinesiotaping, cupping, IASTM, "wedges" and another treatment ideas that will help provide superior outcomes for our patients." – Alison Taylor, OTR/L,CHT,CKTI

The intricate anatomy of the hand and upper extremity, when injured, sometimes requires very delicate surgery and expert therapy for recovery. A certified Hand Therapist has completed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and upper-extremity rehabilitation. CHTs must demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.

There are only 7,322 Certified Hand Therapists WORLDWIDE. In attendance this weekend were 35 therapists representing Dayton, Ohio and surrounding states, some traveling from Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.

Orthopedic Associates is proud to be able to host such an event at our Fairborn location and provide tools to better serve the specialty trained Hand Therapists that our providers depend on for continued patient recovery.
