Hand Center of SW Ohio – Continuing Excellence in Education

By David Martineau

Many people in southwestern Ohio are familiar with, or have used services provided by the Hand Center of SW Ohio. What people may not know is how dedicated these physicians are at training and educating future hand and orthopedic surgeons.

For example, did you know the Hand Center of SW Ohio runs a hand surgery fellowship? This means physicians from all over the country who have finished five years of orthopedic surgical residency training will come to Centerville to spend an additional year specializing in the field of hand surgery. Upon completion, these physicians go on to provide a tremendous service of excellence in patient care all over the country.

Education and Technology

The commitment to education doesn't stop there. Through the use of cutting edge video conferencing technology, these physicians participate in a weekly lectureship series, and a monthly "ask the experts" conference where physicians from around the country present difficult or interesting cases to our surgeons. This allows for an engaging, thoughtful discussion on the topic at hand and what the latest scientific evidence suggests is the most successful treatment option.
